# The error `run.out-of-memory`

**environment**: something the run needs is missing or different where it runs (a package, a file, a device, the network): the error names what to install, fetch or attach.

Where MIME gives it, with what its message says happened and what its action says to do (`{…}` is filled in from the experiment):

- in `mime/errors/_translate.py`:
  - what happened: `the device ran out of memory ({…})`
  - what to do: `keep less: name fewer series in run(..., record=[...]), drop history=True, run a shorter duration per run() call, or give an MRS drag a coarser spacing=; or run on a device with more memory`
